Longtime supporter of London Health Sciences Foundation steps up in the fight against COVID-19

LONDON, Ont. – Local law firm and longtime supporter of London Health Sciences Foundation (LHSF), Lerners LLP, has donated $20,000 to the COVID-19 Response Fund in support of London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC). While we have currently flattened the curve and there is progress in Ontario, there is still a need for future critical care supplies at the hospital and funding for research. This donation will help purchase additional medical equipment that is needed to continue treating patients that require critical care services due to COVID-19 or provide additional funding for vital research that will impact the lives of patients at LHSC and across Canada.

Lerners LLP has been a generous donor for decades, and the funds have primarily supported the highest priority needs at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC). This recent gift is just another display of that continued support for the hospital and the community.

Graham Porter, Lerners LLP, London Managing Partner and Chair of the Firm, says that supporting the hospital and its community has always been a priority for Lerners and its employees. “Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is one of our core values. London Health Sciences plays a critical role in the London community, one that we are privileged to support annually,” says Porter. “Lerners has always valued our relationship with the Foundation and our support for their initiatives is unwavering. The valuable work they have always done, and have continued to do throughout the pandemic, is inspiring, and we look forward to continuing to support this vital work for years to come.

In addition to this monetary contribution from the firm, Lerners LLP and STRIDE Rehabilitation partnered in mid-April to host a comedy stream-a-thon called “The Week has 120 Hours”. The staff and partners raised $5,400 in support of the COVID-19 Response Fund. In light of the pandemic that continues to grip the nation, the comedy stream-a-thon not only raised money for the hospital but it provided some much-needed comic relief during these stressful times.

“We are so grateful for the ongoing support from partners like Lerners LLP,” says John MacFarlane, LHSF’s President and CEO. “Each donation the foundation receives helps improve the health and lives of the patients and families at LHSC. Whether it is during this unprecedented time of crisis or in the future, each dollar has an impact.”
