Janet Stewart named to Ontario's Highest Honour
The lawyers and staff of Lerners extend sincere congratulations to Janet on being named to the Order of Ontario. The Order of Ontario is the province's highest official honour. It recognizes Ontarians who have made an outstanding contribution to society. The Honourable David C. Onley, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario bestowed the honour at a ceremony held on January 28th. Congratulations Janet. We are all very proud of your accomplishments.
Lerners Welcomes Mark Freiman
Brian Grant, Managing Partner of Lerners LLP in Toronto, is pleased to welcome Mark Freiman to the firm's Commercial Litigation Group.
Mark is returning to private practise to work with clients on appeals, defamation, commercial disputes and public law matters. He brings special legal experience in public inquiries and Royal Commissions, dealings with the provincial and federal governments, national security and defamation issues.
Most recently, Mark acted as Commission Counsel for the Commission of Inquiry into the Investigation of the Bombing of Air India Flight 182. Previously, he was a partner and department head at a large national firm and he held the position of Deputy Attorney General for the Province of Ontario for four years.
Mark is a community leader and a distinguished academic. He is President of the Canadian Jewish Congress. He has also held senior level academic positions at the University of Toronto, Stanford University, University of Birmingham (England) and Trinity College (Hartford Connecticut).
