In September 2011, closing submissions were heard in Andersen v. St. Jude Medical Inc., a products liability class action regarding, broadly, the design, manufacture, distribution and pre and post-market testing of the St. Jude Medical prosthetic heart valve coated with Silzone. The action, which was commenced in 2001 and certified by order of Justice Cullity in 2003, proceeded to trial in February 2010. The trial spanned twenty months and included the evidence of twenty-three experts.
