Top 5 Civil Appeals and the Top 5 Defining Moments in Canada’s 150 Years

Dated: July 27, 2017

We don’t do a netletter in August, but wanted to leave you with some reading for your summer vacation. The Court of Appeal dealt with a number of interesting issues in its June decisions, including pleading and certification matters in two different class actions, whether a taxi company can be held liable for a driver’s assault on a passenger, enforcement of foreign judgments under the federal Justice for Victims of Terrorism Act, and the importance of expert witness objectivity.

Earlier this month, Canada marked its 150th year since Confederation. This month’s authors, Peter Kryworuk and Jacob Damstra, bring you their top 5 defining moments from our last century and a half.

To be continued.

Editor and Chair, Lerners Appeals Group
