A Logical, Analytical Problem-Solver

Lindsay Abercrombie is a partner at Lerners who practises family law out of the London office. She negotiates client disputes over a range of issues including those respecting cohabitation agreements, marriage contracts, and separation agreements.

In a unique role at the firm, she also advises clients on fertility law matters such as ova donation, sperm donation, and surrogacy agreements.

“I would say I’m empathetic and resolution-focused,” says Lindsay. “When there are no alternatives to litigation, I will take that route. But I do encourage alternative options, so I steer my clients in the direction of negotiation and mediation.”

From the beginning of her relationship with clients, Lindsay’s goal is to align her service with their expectations. “It’s about regular communication and making sure I understand what their expectations are and what will be involved in the process. I like the logical side of

it. I like being analytical. I like problem-solving. Those three elements are key to why I enjoy family law,” she adds.

She was previously on the Board of Directors for SARI Therapeutic Riding and is a committee member for the Lerners Women’s Symposium, an annual speaker series promoting leadership among women through inspirational stories and discussions.

Lindsay enjoys hiring and mentoring summer students and articling students at Lerners.
