The federal government has enacted legislation known as Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) that will significantly impact businesses who rely on e-mail and other forms of electronic messages (including instant messages, text messages and direct messages on social media platforms) to market and promote their business. Due to the sweeping nature of the law, almost all businesses and other organizations will be impacted in some way.
