Noori v. Abdin
Posted March 5, 2016Represented a group of members of the Danforth Community Centre, a not-for-profit corporation that owns and runs a mosque for the Bengali-speaking Bangladeshi community in Toronto, which has a constitution that permits only those who have made a charitable donation to vote in an election for its Board of Directors. At issue was whether members who had donated goods and services in kind to the DCC could vote, or whether their donations had to be entirely in cash. The court appointed a monitor to observe and report on the election.
