Conrad Black v. Richard C. Breeden et al.
Posted March 5, 2016Counsel for Conrad Black in six actions in which Mr. Black claims that statements posted on the internet about him relating to his conduct as former CEO of a large United States corporation are defamatory. The defendants, who are former officers and directors of the U.S. corporation, challenged the jurisdiction of the Ontario court to hear Mr. Black’s actions and argued that the actions should be brought in the United States. Mr. Black was successful at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada, which decided that Mr. Black was entitled to sue in Ontario where his reputation was established.
