Cecile et al v. Polymaster et al
Posted March 4, 2016Lerners LLP was counsel to the defendant PolyMaster. This class action was started in 2009 by residential property owners who alleged that their houses were insulated with an insulation product containing urea formaldehyde or “UFFI”. The initial claim was for $500 million. This action was set to proceed to trial in the fall of 2015 after lengthy preliminary proceedings, multiple amendments to the pleadings, voluminous documentary productions and weeks of discoveries. In the spring of 2015 this action settled for $13 million dollars. The Ontario Superior Court of Justice approved the settlement on August 12, 2015.
