Supreme Court to hear Deloitte appeal over $118M Livent judgment
The Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) will hear an appeal from Deloitte and Touche against a multimillion-dollar judgment awarded over its audit work for the Livent theatre company.
In an interview with AdvocateDaily.com, Toronto commercial litigator and appellate lawyer William Pepall says, “it is always significant when the SCC grants leave to appeal in a private law commercial matter.”
Pepall, who did not act in this matter but has been following the legal saga closely, says the decision to hear the appeal signals that there are issues of national importance that the Supreme Court wants to address.
