More often than not, the topic of marriage contracts and cohabitation agreements can be taboo for spouses that are hopeful of spending the rest of their lives together. On the one hand, this makes sense; spouses don’t want to deal with what happens when and if the relationship breaks down. Instead, they prefer to remain hopeful that their vows to one another will withstand the test of time. This has proven to be an expensive risk — just ask any experienced family law lawyer.
