Lerners Partners With Harper Grey To Grow “Life In Law” In Eastern Canada

We are thrilled to announce that we have joined forces with Harper Grey LLP, one of Western Canada’s leading law firms, to grow their award-winning Life in Law (“LiL”) initiative to Eastern Canada. LiL is an online forum launched in 2020 that provides assistance and support to lawyers who identify as women seeking to balance life and law. This free resource is readily accessible and provides a flexible and confidential service for women lawyers to talk to each other and share their experiences, knowledge, and perspectives.

“LiL is an innovative and unique way of connecting women lawyers, tapping into the natural sorority that exists between members of the bar, regardless of jurisdiction or practice,” says Cynthia Kuehl, senior partner with Lerners LLP. “It’s the brainchild of Harper Grey lawyers Kim Jakeman, QC and Una Radoja, two remarkable women litigators, and we’re proud to be collaborating with them to build out the program in Eastern Canada. LiL’s goal is to stem the exodus of women lawyers from the practice of law and serves as an antidote to the isolation and self-doubt that come from balancing multiple demanding priorities. It offers support in an informal, inclusive, flexible, and confidential manner. Women lawyers across Canada can reach out by phone or by web chat, talk to other women lawyers who have faced similar challenges, and learn from those women’s experiences without any further or ongoing obligation. The Dear LiL Blog provides thoughtful comments on some of the most commonly asked questions and ruminates on issues that affect many lawyers.
