Lerners Admits New Partners

Lerners LLP is proud to congratulate five impressive young lawyers on their admission to partnership: Natalie Carrothers, Nicholas Cummings, Jacob Damstra, Brandon Duewel, and Jordan McKie.

“We are proud to welcome such excellent lawyers as partners in our firm,” said Firm Chair, Graham Porter. “They have all proven themselves to be exceptional in their work for and commitments to clients, as well as their leadership in and contributions to the community and the firm. They represent the wide range of practices for which Lerners is known and we congratulate each one on this significant career milestone.”

A litigator based in our London office, Natalie Carrothers practices in the areas of health law, professional regulation, commercial litigation, employment law, and privacy, data and information security. Natalie represents clients with regulatory matters, medical negligence, litigation, business and contractual disputes, and workplace investigations. Natalie currently serves as a member of the Executive of the Health Law Section of the OBA. She served as a member and Chair of the Executive for the Young Lawyers Section of the OBA from 2016 to 2019, and served as a member and Chair of the Handbags for Hospice Committee. Natalie was also the recipient of the Gretta J. Grant Prize for Community Legal Services.

Nicholas Cummings is a dedicated corporate and real estate lawyer in the firm’s London office who has been working with Lerners since he was a student. His practice includes advising a wide variety of clients spanning many industries. Nicholas also volunteers with TechAlliance, a local organization that assists entrepreneurs with launching start-ups and accelerating matters growth for established technology companies.

With a broad litigation and appellate advocacy practice involving environmental, municipal, and regulatory matters, public and administrative law, class actions, health law, and commercial and insurance litigation, Jacob Damstra has been recognized as Best Lawyers in Canada: Ones to Watch (2022 Edition), Business London’s Top Twenty in their 20s, and a recipient of the Canada 150 Medal for service in his community. Jacob served as an Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces primary reserve and as a director of Urban Roots London, a non-profit urban farm revitalizing underused urban spaces for sustainable and equitable food production and distribution.

Brandon Duewel is a lawyer in our London office whose practice focuses in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Estate Litigation, with a particular emphasis on Construction Law.  Brandon has significant trial and court advocacy experience, having appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Divisional Court, and various administrative tribunals. He currently serves as a member of the Construction and Infrastructure Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association, the London & District Construction Association, the Stratford & Area Builders Association, and is a Past President of London’s Red Shoe Society.

A litigator with a strong foundation in alternative dispute methods, Jordan McKie’s practice focuses on Family Law.
