Appeal court overturns inquest legal fee decision
A chance for more Ontario families to get their legal fees covered at coroner’s inquests has been quashed by Ontario’s highest court after the province fought the idea.
The Ontario Court of Appeal overturned a lower court decision that would have levelled the playing field for families at the lawyer-heavy inquests.
“The issue is back to square one,” said lawyer Andrew Murray of Lerner’s Law Firm in London.
